From Rough to Cut: The King of the Ocean 150cts

"No matter traveling or photography, Gem Cutting always remains my biggest passion. In the summer we got the news from our good miner friend in Africa: a spectacular Tourmaline Crystal came out. Colored as the ocean, clean, large, natural - a true collector's dream.
Needless to mention how uneasy it was to get hold of the stone with all the transportation hassle. Luckily, the stone finally arrived and the gambling began. As it happens with most of flawless rough, the decision is triple hard:
1) one perfect large stone?
2) a perfect matched pair of smaller stones?
3) keep the crystal as it is?
And not only that: my heart always skips a beat when the rough touches the cutting wheel for a very simple reason: the stone can break unable to resist the internal tension.

Eventually I made up my mind on a single Super Gem, classic antique cushion. The material proved to be strong and grateful, the one I really enjoy dealing with. Moreover, unlike most Blue Tourmaline in the market, this mine produces gem rough which is equally beautiful along all 3 axes, giving the most desirable teal color to the faceted Gem in any direction. Cut, polished, repolished, certified and ready to steal the show!" - Vladyslav Yavorskyy, November 2017
