March Birthstone: Aquamarine
Aquamarine, the fine Blue Beryl gem, is the birthstone of March.
The serene color of Aquamarine invokes the tranquility of its namesake, the sea. According to legend it is the mermaids’ stone, bringing luck to sailors and harmony in marriage. The major deposits of Aquamarine are found in the same geographical locations as that most iconic beryl family member, the Emerald. Main production is from Brazil and Africa but Australia, China, Burma, Pakistan, Madagascar, Russia, the US and Sri Lanka also mine these gems seemingly kissed by the glittering waters of the Maldives. No matter how you use Aquamarine - either as a piece of jewelry or as an aid in a spiritual journey - its cool, tranquil color is the perfect complement to any skin tone or setting.
Words-wise, we spoke a lot of Aquamarine last year, celebrating the Princess Diana’s Ring at the royal wedding.
Vision-wise, we showed you the most coveted shades of blue in our Aqua Odyssey right after Tucson 2018. From cutting a giant rough crystal in light azure, to the faceted paperweights of Santa Maria Africana in intense blue - feast your eyes again and again on our YouTube channel.
Shopping-wise, a collection of fine natural Aquamarine is available as ever at one click. Choose your droplet of eternity three ways:
1) in a bold arrangement Yavorskyy cut as a loose stone
2) accompanied by Diamonds in a fine piece of IVY jewelry
3) immortalized in a chapter of Gemstones Book
Discreet, elegant, durable and affordable, Aquamarine is a perfect gem du jour: wear it every day and admire how multifacetedly it can change your look, as long as soothe your soul.
