SRI LANKA Old Film: 1999 Rare Archive of Vlad Yavorskyy`s journey to the Island Ceylon 🎞️
The first filming of my 25 years’ Gem Journey "In 1994, I went to Sri Lanka for the first time with as much enthusiasm as I had youth. And when my first piece of rough Ceylon stone touched my cutting wheel, I knew right away that I had become a part of something profound. I opened my first fully-functional gem-cutting factory soon thereafter... and with the help of the Sri Lankan people, their mastery and knowledge, and the availability of Ceylon stones at that time, my dream of devoting myself to perfecting my craft was realized. Gem cutters became a part of my family, including one in particular whose cherished collaboration with me in cutting some of the world’s most beautiful gems continues on after all these years. Sri Lanka proved to be a significant part of my life. It humbled me to the myriad religions and nationalities so different from my own. It showed me the adventure of swimming in the open ocean in giant waves amongst whales and king mackerel. It showed me how to surrender to the untoward side effects of life, such as the lousy dentist I had wherein I ultimately lost a tooth. It granted me patience to endure the 100 kilometres of broken brick roads that would take an entire day to traverse. And it opened my eyes to its greatest treasures: its majestic natural world and its incomparably exquisite gemstones. SRI LANKA GEMS BOOK is my gift to this wonderful country that inspired me to follow my dreams".
